The award of Pizza of the Year 2025 goes to “TOP 50” by Bráz, in Brazil; the Pizza Maker of the Year 2025 is Fabrizio Polacco from Grosso Napoletano

 

Da Michele has been named the best artisanal pizza chain in the world. This is the result of the 50 Top World Artisan Pizza Chains 2025 ranking, curated by 50 Top Pizza, the world’s most important industry guide, created and managed by Barbara Guerra, Luciano Pignataro, and Albert Sapere. The ranking was revealed during an exciting countdown presented by Spanish TV journalist Verónica Zumalacárregui at the European Pizza Show in London.

Da Michele, rooted for 150 years in the heart of Forcella in Naples, now has over 70 locations across multiple continents, where customers can enjoy their famous “wagon wheel” (a ruota di carro) pizza. Second place went to Big Mamma Group, an organization born out of two French entrepreneur’s love for Italy, Victor Lugger and Tigrane Seydoux, today boasting numerous restaurants in France, Spain, England, and Germany. Third place went to Grosso Napoletano, established in 2017 and now bringing Neapolitan-style pizza to major cities across Spain.

Bráz, a Brazilian brand known for its large, crispy, wood-fired pizzas, placed fourth. Fifth place went to Luigia, with locations between Switzerland and Dubai, serving pizzas made with top-quality Italian ingredients. Sixth place went to Pizza Pilgrims, founded by brothers Thom and James Elliot, a major reference for Neapolitan pizza in the UK. In seventh position is Berberè, created by brothers Salvatore and Matteo Aloe, who expanded from Castel Maggiore to London with four outlets, after opening about ten restaurants in Rome, Florence, Turin, and Milan. Eighth place went to 400 Gradi in Australia, led by Johnny Di Francesco, a true ambassador of Neapolitan pizza on the Australian continent. Ninth place goes to the Errico Porzio group, with locations mainly across Southern Italy. Closing the Top Ten is Gruppo Peppe by Peppe Cutraro, with restaurants in Paris and Lyon.

Among the highly anticipated special awards, the Pizza Maker of the Year 2025 – Ferrarelle Award goes to Fabrizio Polacco, executive of Grosso Napoletano; the Pizza of the Year 2025 – Latteria Sorrentina Award goes to TOP 50 by Bráz, in Brazil; the Best Pasta Proposal 2025 – Pastificio Di Martino Award was awarded to Luigia; the Best Marketing 2025 – Mammafiore Award goes to Sorbillo.

The New Entry of the Year 2025 – Solania Award goes to Domani; the Best Service 2025 – Fedegroup Award was awarded to Pizzana; the Performance of the Year 2025 – Robo Award goes to Gruppo Peppe; the Best Wine List 2025 – La Gioiosa Award goes to Stellina Pizzeria; the Best Fried Food 2025 – Il Fritturista – Oleificio Zucchi Award was awarded to Errico Porzio; the Best Beer Service 2025 – Peroni Nastro Azzurro Award goes to Capuano’s.

The One to Watch 2025 – Casa Julia Award goes to L’Elementare; the Made in Italy 2025 – Salumi Coati Award was awarded to La Braciera; the Best Cocktail List 2025 – Sei Bellissimi Award goes to Big Mamma Group; the Best Dessert List 2025 – Latteria San Salvatore Award goes to Berberè; the Best Customer Satisfaction 2025 – Maistà Award was awarded to 400 Gradi. Lastly, the recognition Green Oven 2025 – Goeldlin, for outstanding commitment to environmental sustainability was given to Garden Pizza.

The “Excellent” category is also a part of the current edition. These are artisanal pizzeria chains not to be missed which, together with the chains present in the top 50 ranking, complete the guide for a total of 76 brands.

We are very proud of the artisanal chains guide,” say the three curators Barbara Guerra, Luciano Pignataro, and Albert Sapere, “because over the years we have witnessed a constantly growing movement not only in numbers, but above all in quality. Artisanal craftsmanship combined with solid business organization has created a true revolution in the pizza world.”

The event opened with remarks from His Excellency Inigo Lambertini, Ambassador of Italy to the United Kingdom, who highlighted the cultural and global excellence of pizza as a symbol of Italy: “Pizza is more than just food. It is culture, history, and identity. It is a symbol of conviviality, an ambassador in its own right of Italian lifestyle and craftsmanship all over the world. For generations, pizzaioli in Italy and all over the world have combined passion with innovation, preserving local traditions while embracing the global evolution of taste. London is thus the natural host city for the European Pizza Show: the most globalized Italian food in the most globalized city in the world”.

Later the same evening, the Italian Embassy in London hosted a reception attended by numerous guests in celebration of all award recipients.
