L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele
Da non perdere
Only three pizzas on the menu, just the traditional ones, which is exactly how Michele Condurro wanted it over one hundred years ago. The classic pizzas, margherita or marinara, are served without “papocchi” (any tricks) as indicated on the menu. Da Michele in Milan is just a few steps away from the central train station and from the five-star hotels. It has brought the tradition of the classic Neapolitan pizza to the Lombardy capital; and it could not get more classic than this. The margherita, with tomato, fior di latte from Agerola, basil, DOP pecorino and seed oil, is available in two versions: with or without extra mozzarella. The marinara is presented in its classic form with tomato, basil, and DOP pecorino. The pizza is good, and is made according to the tradition that has been handed down over generations. Apart from pizzas, fried pizzas and calzones are available with ciccoli and Neapolitan salami. Da Michele you can expect the pizza to be how it is served in Naples, and the locale, even if there is a bit of a Milanese influence, has a Neapolitan flavor to it. The nativity scenes and the statues of Di Virgilio are a nice touch and come directly from San Gregorio Armeno.
