The fame enjoyed by this pizzeria has its roots in family history: in 1935 Gino Sorbillo’s grandparents, Luigi Sorbillo and Carolina Esposito, opened their first pizzeria, a pizza chef who has made simple food, born to feed the people, into a media brand.
At Ai Tribunali, on a main road which has passed through the antique centre of Naples since the times of the ancient Greeks, Sorbillo is an unmissable stop for pizza lovers. Visited in equal measure by Neapolitans and tourists who do not allow themselves to be frightened by the inevitable queue every hour of every day.
The pizza keeps its popular dimensions, a wheel which exceeds the edge of the plate, very finely spread, aromatic dough and a low crust, it is topped with well-chosen and well-matched ingredients. Service is polite, quick and well-established. The establishment has three rooms: one is classical, one on the lower floor, smaller with a few tables and a room with horse shoe tables. The environment is rich Neapolitan in every detail. Gino Sorbillo wins the 2018 prize “of the heart”.
