Not far from the central train station, Enzo Durante’s pizzeria is a landmark for quality fried pizza. The dough is well leavened, topped according to tradition but you can also find it presented in more creative ways. It is fried properly and its puffy and golden disk of dough is a pleasure for the eyes and palate. The toppings are balanced and rich in taste. On the menu, there are also classic Neapolitan fried specialities such as fried dough bits “paste cresciute”, pasta omelettes, and potato croquettes.
This small restaurant is the destination of mostly a Neapolitan clientele, but many tourists stop here before continuing their tours of the city.
The drink menu is small with a nice selection of wines, beers and sodas. There is also the option of ordering one of two quality marsalas as a nice accompaniment as well as a good palate cleanser after having had the classic fried pizza (this was the tradition during the twentieth century).
Delivery and take away are well organized. The prices are fair.
