Pizzerie Eccellenti 2020
Stefano Miozzo is one of the greatest lovers of gourmet pizzas and boasts the title of two-time world champion: Valpoterra (2017) and Il Cortile dei Nonni (2018). He uses Amarone della Valpolicella dough, and the pizzas are served in the evenings just like the “highly hydrated” pizza series (some even using sea water). In the Veronese bakery of Forkette – just a few steps from Lungadige, part of the QKing group (number three after Al Borgo 1964 in Palesella di Cerea and Tenuta San Martino in Legnago) – Miozzo and his chefs bake marvels of inventiveness and lightness. They can be tasted by choosing from three ample menus (with 4, 6, or 8 pizzas and a combination of beers and wines). They are not cheap but they are excellent for variety and taste. His convincing motto is transcribed on the plates: “There is nothing that cannot be solved with a smile and my pizza”. Pizza which, of course, is offered in every single imaginable variation. For those who choose the wines, the winery, curated by Enrico Fiorini and Gianluca Boninsegna, offers 400 different labels: Veronese, Venetian, Italian and international.
