Pizzerie Eccellenti 2020
I Piccoli Piaceri
There is a hill which separates Lake Orta from Valsesia. Once over it, it is all downhill to Valduggia. They used to saddle donkeys to transport Toma cheese which came from the first pastures which rise up from the plain at a height of about 1000. The cheeses – and the other local materials – are what makes this pizzeria unique. It is rather anonymous externally, but well cared for and hospitable in the interior dining areas. The pizza chef and the staff are young, dedicated and careful in making and proposing quality. There is a standard approach that does not risk being overly creative (apart from the Ciambellone Ripiena: a must). Instead they are concentrated on careful work, good baking, and the assembly of ingredients which are tasty and convincing to the palate. The wine cellar is adequate, and dishes are available from the kitchen to complete the offer. During the summer it is possible to eat in the garden and enjoy the lovely breeze which rises from the lake. A wonderful place to stop.
