For more than a quarter of a century, the La Borgata has had a place in the hearts of the vast university population, as much as with the professors and staff as with the students. However, these are not its only patrons given that this pizzeria can be reached in just a few minutes by car from the center of Cosenza. It was founded as a pizzeria in 1994 and then also became a restaurant. Michele Rovella, seasoned by extensive work experience in Brussels and northern Italy, today continues to pour out his passion into the dining areas which have been widened over the years. His wife Maria Pia Carbone assists him as head of the dining room service. Dependability, warmth and customer care are the bywords here. The menu does the rest: over 50 different pizzas are on offer, with classic or whole grain doughs. The ingredients used are top quality, such as the extra-virgin olive oil, fior di latte cheese, fresh vegetables, cured meats and local sott’olio. A particular mention goes to the vast selection of wines and especially beers, with a preference for Trappist breweries. This may be because Michele left a little piece of his heart in Belgium.
