This pizzeria located in the ancient heart of the city has been an institution for one hundred years. It is a few steps away from the famous basilica of Santa Chiara where, according to the legend, their ancestors opened the pizzeria thanks to an intercession by the philosopher Benedetto Croce. The establishment holds on to the traditional concept of pizza being a working-class food to be consumed at the table, to take home, or to eat folded like a book while crossing the Decumani. The pizza is tasty and plentiful with the disc of dough exceeding the perimeter of the plate. This is a reflection of how it was presented after the Second World War when pizza was the only meal of the day. The classic and Mediterranean toppings are well-distributed on a disc of leavened dough and baked according to tradition. On the menu, you will find a wide selection of typical Neapolitan dishes, with some reinterpreted in a modern slant. The service is informal and fast. There is a good assortment of beverages with the wine list featuring labels from Campania. The Covid-19 preventative measures have been implemented.
