This pizzeria, called “Vizio 5” (vizio meaning vice) is a “lair of vices” (of food, of course). It overlooks Lake Maggiore from the hills of Dormelletto. It is pizzeria that has made a name for itself over the years. It creates a synthesis of the Neapolitan “ben fatto” (nicely done) not only for their standards of pizza creation and baking, but also for everything else that revolves around pizza. This includes the long series of fried specialties and finger foods to kill the time while you wait. They include timbale of bucatini in batter, potato croquettes, breaded fior di latte, ricotta and olive meatballs, and the essential cuoppo. The pizzas feature a very well-made high crust. They range from the “montanare” to the traditional versions that are divided into “classic” and “rich” (the latter with a lot of creativity). On the pizza “piuma,” you are even served honey to accompany the lard, fior di latte, cherry tomatoes and buffalo-milk mozzarella. There is great care both in the wine list and in the suggested pairings.
