Pizzerie Eccellenti 2020
Tonda is a welcoming pizzeria in the Montesacro quarter, with an open wood-fired oven, simple but colorful furnishings, well-distanced tables and a very courteous and efficient dining room staff. There is a small outdoor area that allows clients to dine while fully enjoying the summer evenings. The signature of the establishment’s founder is clearly evident: Stefano Callegari’s influence is not only found in the pizzas, but also stands out in the fried products and in his “trapizzini,” pockets of white pizza stuffed with typical traditional dishes, such as the trippa alla romana (Roman tripe). The classic supplì are tasty, while the pizza is made with a mix of 00 and 1 stone-ground flours. It has a slightly pronounced, crunchy crust. The toppings are well-balanced. The speciality pizzas must not be missed, among which is the Cacio e Pepe and the Greenwich. The Fiori is also very tasty, topped with mozzarella, zucchini flowers and anchovies. The wine list includes numerous labels and a vast selection of artisan beers.
