In Alta Langa, land of hazelnut groves, woods and sparse vineyards, the town of Castino can count upon this big, well-known, modern pizzeria as an attraction. Far from the heavy flow of tourist traffic, you must arrive here by car or motorbike (or bicycle for the more energetic). The establishment is modern, urban, and “for everyone” as the company’s publicity states. Nonetheless, it is not distracted. The pizzas are, in fact, well made. Great attention is given to the Piedmont cuisine and its products. They have original ideas and unusual combinations, well cured flours and leavenings, locally produced ingredients and Mediterranean experiments (but with local produce). The service is rapid and friendly. There is a wood-fired oven. There is a good choice of wines, especially from Piedmont, local beers and home-made desserts. The establishment is full of stairs and ups and downs, so it is easily accessible only in part. If you have special needs, it would be best to warn the staff. In any case, there is also a take-away service, and it is extremely popular. It is advisable to book in either case.
