We are in California in San Luis Obispo County for this restaurant that serves authentic Italian pizza and homemade pasta. Alberto Russo has managed over the years to maintain adherence to the original project and offer the best of what this area has to offer that fully represents Italy. The restaurant is cozy, well-kept, with a counter and characteristic wooden stools. The menu includes appetizers, homemade pasta, and a few dessert options, in addition to the pizzas, which remain the heart of the menu. Pizzas are served in two different ways. Neapolitan pizza, baked in a wood-fired oven made by a famous Neapolitan craftsman. Fresh ingredients and well-leavened dough. A must-try is the “wrong” Capricciosa, with artichoke cream, mushrooms, and mortadella instead of cooked ham. Then there is the meter-long pizza, originating from Vico Equense, a small village on the Sorrento Coast. Friendly service, good drink options. Prices are average for the city with much higher quality.
