Vincenzo OnNembo’s feat of making the Dutch residents passionate about pizza was clearly a success; not necessarily because the people of the Netherlands don’t love pizza, but because the overall culinary standards of the country as well as in the city of Amsterdam are definitely not the highest. The ambiance is simple and intimate; you can choose whether to sit at one of the tables or at the more informal wall countertop. The dough uses a mix of Italian flours as well as local organic flours. The style of the pizza is the contemporary Neapolitan one, with the typical pronounced crust. To start, you should not miss the “Pall ‘e ris’” (the rice balls), very inviting and well prepared. The pizza provola and pepper is just fantastic, which in Naples is called “la pizza del pizzajuolo”, as well as the Nonno Vincenzo with provola, with spicy spianata sausage, basil, and hot peppers. For dessert, if you are undecided between tiramisu and babà to end on a sweet note, just don’t hesitate and have both! Prices are within the city average.
