Ristorante Val Pomaro
Just beyond the horizon, and further down, you will find the town of Arquà Petrarca, “the poet’s village.” This is where the poet Petrarch lived out his final years. Val Pomaro is a panoramic terrace on the southern side of the Euganean Hills and the establishment itself is also a pretty sight for the world of pizza. Andrea Cesarone is the master of leavened products at Val Pomaro, which is a 64-year-old venue established by Orazio Bonello, an expert in wild herbs and an experienced butcher and meat expert. The pizza is made from ancient grains and organic flours resulting in a light and fragrant dough. In 2008 Orazio’s son-in-law Andrea decided to get back into the family business and he is now assisted by his daughter Ilaria. He expresses his concept of pizza in several versions: steam-baked, Neapolitan-style, and ‘half flour’. Top-quality toppings are used and there is an excellent wine and beer selection.
