This evening, July 26th 2022, the final ranking for 50 TOP PIZZA ITALY 2022 was presented at the Teatro Mercadante in Naples. It is the annual classification of the best pizzerias in Italy designed by 50 Top Pizza, the most influential guide to the pizza sector. The project is curated by Barbara Guerra, Albert Sapere and Luciano Pignataro. The event was conducted by Federico Quaranta and followed in direct streaming by thousands of people on the Facebook pages of 50 Top Pizza, 50 Top Italy and the Luciano Pignataro Wine Blog.
I Masanielli – Francesco Martucci, in Caserta, has confirmed its place as the best pizzeria in Italy for the fourth consecutive year. Second place in the ranking went to 50 Kalò by Ciro Salvo in Naples, and the third spot on the podium was captured by 10 Diego Vitagliano Pizzeria, again in Naples.
They are followed in fourth position by Tigli in San Bonifacio (VR), in fifth place Francesco & Salvatore Salvo in Naples, sixth Seu Pizza Illuminati in Rome, seventh La Notizia 94 in Naples, eighth place 180g Pizzeria Romana in Rome, in ninth Dry Milano in Milan, and in tenth place is a new pizzeria in Caserta, Cambia-Menti by Ciccio Vitiello.
This Italian guide lists 500 pizzerias divided into four categories: Pizzerie Top (the first 50), Grandi Pizzerie (from position 51 to 100), Pizzerie Eccellenti and Pizze in Viaggio (by-the-slice and takeaway). All of the 50 Top Guides are accessible for consultation free of cost.
In the first 100 pizzerias, the region of Campania reigns with 30 establishments in the list. In second place is Lazio with 13, which just beat out Lombardy with 12. Following them are Tuscany (10), Puglia and Veneto (5), Piemonte and Sardegna (4), Sicily (3), Abruzzo, Abruzzo, Basilicata, Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, Marche (2), and finally Calabria, Molise, Trentino-Alto Adige and Umbria (1).

• Best Frittatina di Pasta of the Year 2022 – Pastificio di Martino Award: I Borboni Pizzeria (Pontecagnano Faiano, SA)
• Best Wine List 2022 – Prosecco DOC Award: Pizzeria Da Lioniello (Succivo, CE)
• Best Service 2022 – Goeldlin Award: Officine del Cibo (Sarzana, SP)
• Innovation and Environmental Sustainability 2022 – Ferrarelle Award: I Masanielli – Sasà Martucci (Caserta)

Finally, the Benemerito della Pizza 2022 (achievement in pizza making) award was given to three pizza makers who since 2000 have had a significant influence on the pizza sector in their respective categories: Enzo Coccia, Simone Padoan, and Gabriele Bonci.
“The success of this event and of all the events that we have realized in person this year is especially due to the response of those working in this sector and of the pizza enthusiasts from Italy, Europe and all over the world. It is the confirmation that the 50 TOP PIZZA project has been able to affirm itself as a credible and valid enterprise in just a few years,” stated the curators. “A special thanks goes to our entire team and especially to the inspectors who, with great professionalism, visited venues all over the world to enable the creation of our classifications. We are pleased to report that the rankings are increasing in popularity with more and more users consulting them when looking for a top pizzeria.”
